While we as dog lovers may not choose to observe every pet holiday, we can all collectively embrace what takes place each second Sunday in September, which is known as Hug Your Hound Day!
A day set aside to squeeze in a little extra time out of our hectic schedules to cuddle our canine companions, pet parents can also show that they hold the idea of the holiday close to their heart by giving their barking buddy a virtual hug through the gift of their undivided attention. From Chihuahuas to Chow Chows, all dogs would enjoy a day of play filled with extra treats, a trip to the local dog park or a dog-friendly event or simply acting like a couch potato alongside their forever parent.
If you don’t have a four-legged friend to enfold in your arms on Hug Your Hound Day (or even if you do!), remember that we have dogs here at your local shelter who would love to receive some extra attention from a new two-legged friend! Our Rescue Centre will be open from 9am to 1pm (as they are everyday) so please do come along and visit us.
