Good News Friday!

Mira makes her move.
Mira is one of our older residents – she came into KAR in October 2010 as a puppy. She had been living happily, with her friends, in Doggy Avenue and we often wondered why she was overlooked when it came to Doggy Ave residents being chosen for new homes.
But we knew that Mira was happy with us – she had regular walks, had one on one time with staff and volunteers and was happy with her kennel friends. But we wanted more for Mira – the same as do for all of our cats and dogs.
We love them and care for them while they are with us but we want them all to have a “fur ever” home of their own.
Recently a couple Carole and John Davies had been talking to KAR about adopting a dog. They came to the Rescue Centre to have a look around and to meet some of the dogs. They met Mira – They walked Mira – They fussed Mira -They liked Mira and in turn Mira liked them!
They adopted Mira and it was not long before she was on her way to her new “fur ever” home in Karisiyaka.
Carol and John have been in touch with us very recently to say that Mira has settled in really well and is adjusting to her life with them. They are delighted with her. No doubt Mira is delighted with them too and her new home.

Mira is a very good example of how older dogs who have been with us for a long time settle well into new homes with new families. We often hear, bandied about, that dogs who have been with us a long time will not be homed because they are “institutionalized” and won’t adjust.
Mira and her older friends disagree – they just need to be given a chance.
Many happy day wishes for Mira and a special thank you to Carol and John, for homing an older dog, and everyone else who homes any cat or dog from KAR – you have made a difference.
