CHARITY SHOPS

The original KAR Clothes Charity Shop was opened in October 1999 in the centre of Kyrenia close to its’ current location behind the Fire Station. It was established solely for the purpose of raising funds to support the animals in our care.

In January 2013 a second Clothes Charity Shop was opened called GlagRags which is a boutique style shop selling new and better quality donations located at the KAR offices in Karakum, Kyrenia.

Both shops stock a wide range of well know UK High Street and international labels from around the world from Primark to Debenhams and our customers have been known to pick up the occasional designer label too. New stock arrives daily so with regular visits and a good look through our stock some incredible bargains can be found.  Maybe even that special little number you’ve been looking for. Some of the best dressed people in the TRNC are our customers!

A third shop, House and Home, joined the ever expanding retail business in May 2015 just next door to the first clothes shop and sells, as the title suggests, all donations relating to the house and home from teaspoons to 3 piece suits, electricals, DVDs and CDs, linens and soft furnishings and children’s clothing including local school uniform at a fraction of the new price.  In fact we will sell anything we can get through the door!

Volunteers

All the shops are run by volunteers who generously give their time to help the shops run profitably and efficiently so we can provide food and veterinary care for the animals at our centre.

We always have vacancies for volunteers and all are welcomed with open arms.  You don’t need any special qualifications just a desire to make a difference to the lives of the animals in our care. Our current volunteers come from all walks of life and we have numerous nationalities. So, if you have a few hours to spare every a week, please contact our Retail Manager, Cathy on 0533 845 2318, or visit the Karakum Office for more information. 

Donations

Donations are constantly required and gratefully received and collections can be arranged for larger or heavy items. The donations are sent to a central sorting department in Karakum.Here every item is sorted and graded by hand for distribution to therelevant shop, or kept for one of our special promotions or events such as the Christmas Bazaar. Nothing goes to waste as un-saleable clothing and textiles go to the rescue centre to be used as animal bedding.

All our efforts are aimed at improving the quality of life of the animals in our care but without volunteers or donations we can achieve nothing, so please help us if you can!

Goody Pet Food Available NOW

You can now buy a selection of competetively priced cat and dog food, from the Goody range, at our Karakum office.
Choices for dogs include canned beef, lamb or chicken or dry food in high energy or maintenance.
Cat food options include canned salmon flavour, lamb or chicken and various flavours in the dry food. Cat litter is also available in 7 litre bags.

KAR rely solely on donations for funding, please help us to help the animals of
